The success of Stranger Things surprised almost everyone when the series first premiered.
What initially looked like a nostalgic science-fiction show quickly became one of the biggest pop culture phenomena of the streaming era. Years later, the fanbase continues growing, and the DVD collections remain some of the most searched TV box sets online.
Part of the reason is simple.
Very few modern shows successfully combine horror, friendship, mystery, and nostalgia the way Stranger Things does.
The series follows a group of kids in Hawkins, Indiana, as they uncover supernatural experiments, alternate dimensions, and terrifying creatures connected to the mysterious Upside Down.
But underneath the monsters and government conspiracies, the show is really about friendship, growing up, and survival.
That emotional core helped the series connect with multiple generations of viewers.
Older audiences love the strong 1980s atmosphere.
Younger viewers connect with the friendships, humor, and emotional storytelling.
As streaming platforms continue changing their libraries, many fans have started collecting physical editions of their favorite shows again.
Collectors searching for complete sci-fi TV series often return to Stranger Things because the DVD collections usually include:
- behind-the-scenes footage
- cast interviews
- deleted scenes
- production documentaries
- collectible packaging
- bonus content unavailable on streaming services

Another reason the series stayed relevant is the cast itself.
Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, and the younger cast members became major celebrities almost overnight. Fans continue following their careers, interviews, and public appearances, which constantly brings new viewers back to the series.
Social media also helped the show maintain momentum.
Scenes from Stranger Things continue trending on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reddit, and Instagram, especially moments involving Eleven, Eddie Munson, and the Upside Down storylines.
This constant online discussion keeps the DVD collections relevant even years after release.
